Meet PAA Season 2 Cast Members

2nd December 2022

What was your highlight of being in season 2 of PAA?

Vanessa who plays Sam - My highlight was the SKY family I made on set. I worked with amazing people whom we have made amazing memories with.

Tess who plays Ciru - I loved the experience I had on the PAA set. It was a learning experience and exposure for me. The crew and the cast were very comfortable to be around and easy to get along with so I didn't have any bad experience.

Eve who plays Esther - My biggest highlight in Ssn 2 is that the story is based in an environment that most typical Kenyan teenagers can relate with and feel spoken for. I also cannot deny that this project will be very impactful to my career as an actress and a creative.

Hawi who plays Mark - Playing Mark in PAA Season Two was a blast. I had the opportunity to work and interact with an incredible cast and crew. I loved how we became closer with time, bonded and became a family.

Gabriel who plays Edwin - Being on season 2 is my highlight of the year. I love that I got the chance to do what I love most and also happy that this is a stepping stone to my acting career. I'm also proud of myself and the team too.

What's one embarrassing moment that you had on set?

Vanessa - The most embarrassing moment on set was when I was running and my shoe and bucket hat kept coming off, so every time they kept falling off and Ciru just left me behind. It was embarrassing at first and also really really funny😂😂

Tess - The most embarrassing part was when I was supposed to draw and I didn't know how to, so I just followed a faint line that was there initially. The camera was still rolling and I could see and even hear guys holding in their laughter…I was so embarrassed 😳

Eve -   There's a day I woke up a bit tired, but you know we still had to show up on set.."wueh let me tell you Maina!!" There was constant war between me and sleep, I was caught dozing off a couple of times while on set.

Hawi - On set, before every scene or take, we’d hear “Mark”, from the assistant director, meaning ‘marking the board’ and every single time I would respond, because my character’s name is Mark. It was so funny yet embarrassing.

Gabriel - I wouldn't say I had an embarrassing moment . But I hated having this feeling of not giving my all when I knew I would have done better. For me it's like failing myself.

Hawi: What are the similarities and differences between yourself and Mark?

For similarities I’d say; great fashion sense, confidence, fitness and a love for exercise as well as a protector to the one’s we love. The major difference is that I am focused on what I want. I wouldn’t be swayed and be a victim of negative peer pressure, as is seen by Mark giving into Edwin’s tricks.

Vanessa: Sam had to make a choice in her relationship, what’s one key thing you would advise SKY girls to remember when making relationship choices?

I'd advise them to always put themselves first no matter what, coz at the end of the day they have themselves. It's really not worth compromising your happiness for someone else.

Gabriel: Without giving any spoilers, what advice would you give to your character Edwin?

The best advice I would give Edwin is: the world is beautiful and we'll see the beauty by looking at it with a beautiful eye and having a beautiful mind.  This comes with embracing ourselves, the people around us and choosing to love. There's beauty in looking at everything with love.

Teresiah: What was your favorite part about playing Ciru?

What I loved about Ciru is that she learned from her surroundings and before judging a person, she tried to see things from their perspective inorder to understand why they were doing what they did, like for instance, with Edwin. After observing she also knew to stand her ground and say no to smoking. I loved playing her role because of this attributes which as a person I try and exercise

Eve: You tell Esther’s story so well. How did you prepare for it?

Honestly speaking, there's not much difference in way of reasoning and thinking between Esther and I, so it was not really that hard to hack it. However, just to be sure I'm ready, I had to fully be her, talk like her, behave like her four days before my first day on set and the entire period as well.
