YOU GOT THIS, SIS: Hacking schoolwork during the COVID period!
18th September 2020Who even thought we would have to study from home this year? 2020 has really onyeshad us things!
Staying on top of schoolwork while at home can be extra challenging…but not anymore! We’ve collected some helpful schoolwork hacks that will make sure our grades stay winning while we study from home!
It’s tempting to just jump into the first book we see but there’s a better way- timetable.
Just like they work at school, timetables keep us organized at home. We figure out how much time is needed for schoolwork and all the subjects we will be working on during the day. Once the list is complete we can work steadily instead of stopping frequently to figure out what to do next. Easy peasy!
Yes! Music can get you amped up and ready to take on the day’s subjects! So during your free time, put together a ka-nice, high-energy playlist of just a few songs to give you the psyke you need.
Chuga though, if you pick too many songs that you love it might distract you. Balance is key!
We know this is a hard one cause there always so much going on at home. From loud siblings to the clanging of sufurias in the kitchen, distractions haziishi. That’s why you gotta make sure the space we are working in is away from the rest of the fam and doesn’t have a TV. Find a place that’s quiet, with as few distractions and clutter possible.
This one is a tough one but aki just hear us out 😊 We know our phones are our whole lives, lakini turning them off and putting them away during schoolwork hours is totally worth it, sis. Every time you get a notification and check your phone, it breaks your focus. It then takes more brain power to get back on track to what you were working on.
When you are making your timetable don’t forget to add short breaks. We discovered that if we don’t and try to get through hours and hours of schoolwork tunachoka very quickly. Take a break every so often to stretch, snack or walk around. For example, you can stimulate your brain with a little exercise. We’ve found that playing the SKY Anthem by Karun and dancing like no one is watching really re-energizes the mind and body to keep going. Try it!
Kusema ukweli, school-work isn’t always fun. But our brains work off of reward systems so we can syke ourselves up with rewards for doing good work throughout the day! Rewards could be being able to watch a show after classes, eating something delicious, playing a game, or going out and doing something fun with pals over the weekend.
Now that we’ve got all these tips, we can hack schoolwork at home bila struggles!
