WHAT I WISH I KNEW AT 15: TRACY WANJIRU

We talked to one of our fave media personalities (and beloved SKY big sis) Tracy Wanjiru about the things she wished her 15-year old self knew. Aki she dropped some nuggets. Check them out!

School:

You have so much to look forward to now that you are in high school. You’re a step closer to what you’ll realize is quite overrated (adulting) 🤣 story for another day! 

School is going to be so much fun. Sometimes it won’t feel like it but you’ll look back and miss it. There’s so many memories to be made and it will be great for you to take it all in because this is going to be such a short season. 

Friends:

They say high school friends last forever. You’ll be surprised how true this is. Be open to meeting new people and making new friends. You will learn so much from them. Being picky has for the longest time been given such a negative attribute, however you’ll have to be picky with the friends you want to keep close to your heart. They play such a great role in your life. They’ll influence a lot of things in your life including your fashion sense. 

Fashion:

And let me tell you girl, drip is forever! Have fun experimenting with new looks and also modifying your current looks. You’ll be surprised how much more your style will boost your confidence. 

Failure:

“What is the point of being alive if you don’t at least try to do something remarkable?” - John Green. Don’t worry about failing. It’s so ok to fail and you will so many times . What matters is that you don’t give up. Failure also gives you almost equal chances at excelling. So stay focused and do not get discouraged. 

Boys:

Breakups suck, but they’ll show you what kind of a person you want to be with and the kind you want to avoid.

Peer pressure:

Remember to always stay true to who you are and what you believe in. Protect that at all cost. You’ll be surprised how much this will keep you grounded in the midst of all the beautiful chaos that is high school. 

The future:

The future is so bright. If only we could teleport 😂 Stay enthusiastic about life. Always remember where you came from and what you want. Let nothing steer you away from your dreams and goals. Stay focused mama. You’ve got this. It doesn’t get easier but it gets better and so beautiful
