What it takes: Featuring The SISTA show hosts

7th June 2021

If you haven’t watched The SKY S.I.S.T.A show on YouTube, unangoja?

S.I.S.T.A (which stands for Sky Is Staying True Always) is a magical space powered by the SKY sistahood, where we talk about all things SKY like fashion, music, friendship and showing the world who we are!!

The show is hosted by three incredible hosts, Vee, Claris and Joan.

We talked to them about their experience hosting the show and learned a lot!

Q: Have you always wanted to be a show host? When did you know you wanted to give it a go?

Joan: Yes! I always knew...but earlier I thought that maybe I’d be like a mechanical engineer, civil engineer or teacher. Glad I realized hosting is my thing!

Claris: Yeeees! I've always wanted to be a show host and I decided to give it a shot when I saw the audition post for SISTA SHOW. I thought to myself why not?

Vee: Even as a younger girl, my mum would tell me that I was just good with presenting and talking in front of people. Hata I wouldn’t shy away or back out. She even gave me the idea of studying journalism, which I did, and I love it! There and then I just knew that is my thing. I feel really confident when doing it.

Vivian

Her thing: Spreading good vibes✨✨

Not her thing: Letting her friends down. βœ–βœ–

Q: What’s your favourite part of hosting the SISTA show?

Joan: Best part of hosting the sister show is working with an awesome crewπŸ€—πŸ€ΈπŸΎ‍♀️

Claris: I love all parts of the show coz they got different feels but if I had to choose then that would be doing the fun challenges segment.

Vee: First of all, who doesn’t love dressing up and being in front of the camera? But when I think about it, my best part is spending the day doing something I love and with really cool people. Hype Smoking

Joan

Her thing: Hype!

Not her thing: Smoking βœ–βœ–

Q: What have you learned while hosting the SISTA show?

Joan: I have learned a lot... Especially on the importance of consistency, believing in myself, also how to take constructive criticism kwa sababu that’s not always easy.

Claris: I've learned so much about myself that I didn't know, sana sana the power of teamwork. I have also seen that you can be whoever you want to be as long as you are TRUE TO YOURSELF. No dream is too big for you to not achieve!

Vee: I would say I’ve really gained confidence being in front of the camera and fluency as well. Thanks to working with the most patient people. Lakini my best part? Hosting has taught me to love myself for who I am.

Claris

Her thing: Cooking and being happy!

Not her thing: Doing things to please other people βœ–βœ–

Q: What's the funniest fail you have had on the show?

Joan: Hahaha I was hands down unable to function normally after meeting Joy Kendi...... I had to do some deep breaths in out 🀣

Claris: There's this day I had forgotten to say a line that was mine then I was in my emotions and the cameras were still rolling so I said: "argh naskia tu kulia". It was funny coz they were still recording πŸ˜‚

Vee: This one I’ll never forget. I remember talking about our SKY guy, Martin Kimathi and instead, I shouted Martin Lawrence. LOL, I had everyone on the floor! Honestly, I remember someone saying (don’t you think he’s a bit too mature for you) wow! But he’s an amazing actor!
